The Lake County (IL) Genealogical Society is issuing “Lake County Early Settlers Certificates” to direct descendants of early settlers of Lake County, Illinois.
Eligibility: To qualify for an Early Settlers Certificate, the applicant must be a direct descendant of an ancestor who settled in Lake County, Illinois between 1839 and 1910. The applicant need not be a resident of Lake County.
The cost of a certificate is be $30.00. Additional certificates for the same ancestor may be obtained for $10.00 each.
Before 1850 – Certificate with gold seal and gold ribbon
1851 – 1880 – Certificate with gold seal and blue ribbon
1881 – 1910 – Certificate with gold seal
