LCIGS Research Policy and Instructions as of July 2018:

The Lake County Illinois Genealogical Society (LCIGS) volunteers will perform limited research using the resources available in the society Reading Room. Research requests may be made by mail, phone, or e-mail.

Each request must be specific in nature and include as much information as possible about the ancestor or family being researched. The society will not research living people. When the research is complete, the requester will be be notified of the items located and the cost. LCIGS members will be given a reduced rate.

When payment is received, copies will be mailed via USPS or scans/photos will be attached to an email, depending on the preference of the requester.

If you have a difficult or complex problem, or wish to have your research include a written analysis of sources checked, you may want to hire a researcher. See researchers.
