Our History and Purpose

Welcome to the Lake County Illinois GenealogIcal Society Website!

THE LAKE COUNTY (IL) GENEALOGICAL SOCIETY was formed in May of 1978 by the Genealogy Group of the Libertyville-Mundelein Historical Society, Libertyville, Illinois.

We are a non-profit organization whose purpose is (1) to unite those persons interested in the pursuit and study of genealogy and family history; (2) to encourage the preservation of public and private records; and (3) to promote programs of education which support the growth and development of these fields.

MEETINGS – Come Visit us!
Evening meetings are generally held on the second Tuesday of the following months at 7:00 p.m.:  January, February, March, April, May, June, July, August, September and October.

Meetings are held in Conference room #2 in the Vernon Hills Village Hall, 290 Evergreen Drive, Vernon Hills, Illinois.  See Map.   The annual conference in November is held at another location.

Everyone is welcome!

VOLUNTEER:  Over the years the Society has worked on a number of projects. Some have been completed, some are still in progress, and still others are waiting in the wings. Nothing would be accomplished without our volunteers.

To become a volunteer, call the Society at 847-918-3584 or email LCIGS1170@gmail.com for information.
